That is why it is our choice, is it not? To do so, knowing full well what effects it may leave. To be relieved of that burden.

There's the possibility of burdening everyone else, though, isn't there? Of course everyone can choose as they please, but it would be very unfortunate if I selected the wrong memory and became an even more difficult person to travel with!

A moment may well be enough to change a person irrevocably, but we carry the weight of many such moments in our lives. The choices we make carry their echoes through everything that follows. I do not hold that our entire beings are archways held up by the single keystone of one memory.
