[The Crossing is coming again.

There is no advance warning from The Ferryman this time. There is nothing to draw your attention towards the message that appears on your device, whatever it may be, except perhaps the expectation that it should be appearing soon.

Whether you think to check for it or you simply stumble upon it, the words are there just as before:]

A toll to be levied for safe passage
from the desert to ǝɹǝɥʍǝsʅǝ

envision a place of comfort and safety
a haven from the wants and ills of life
be it for a moment or for a lifetime

offer it to The Ferryman
and let go

I've got to live up to my name sometime.

I rode herd during the last Crossing trying to keep anyone from falling behind. It was very dark though.

I fear this time we'll see a sandstorm, whether or not it gets dark.

That's definitely within the realm of possibility.

I noticed that some caught it worse than others on the last Crossing. How are you holding up?

No trouble. I'm used to forgetting things and sharing my memories. Also not a lot upsets you when you get to my age.

Duly noted. Is interacting with memories common where you're from?

Well. Common for me. Less common but nothing unusual for a lot of people with similar abilities to mine. Outside of that, rare.

I get the concept. We have a similar sort of threshold for some abilities where I'm from.

Any suggestions for prepping for the Crossing? I can help spread info, at least.

What do you call them?

If it gets dark - keep in contact somehow. Don't let someone get cut off. Sound might work.

If there's a sandstorm - remember you don't have to breathe except to talk. It's just habit. You can cover your airways to keep sand out of them but you won't suffocate.

Endure. There will be an end.

The people are known as Asari.

[There's a beat as Shepard commits the rest of Need's advice to memory, though she's slightly surprised at the revelation about breathing.]

Good to know. How'd you all find out about the breathing?

I mentioned it in the Cavern, didn't I?

I've been dead for a very long time. A lot of what I learned doesn't apply unfortunately but this does. I suspect none of us have a heartbeat when we're not checking for it.

I remember a little. It also sounded like people like you were uncommon but more normal than it would be for many in the group.

I'm trying to see if there are any commonalities in our potential times of death.
