[The Crossing is coming again.
There is no advance warning from The Ferryman this time. There is nothing to draw your attention towards the message that appears on your device, whatever it may be, except perhaps the expectation that it should be appearing soon.
Whether you think to check for it or you simply stumble upon it, the words are there just as before:]
A toll to be levied for safe passage
from the desert to ǝɹǝɥʍǝsʅǝ
envision a place of comfort and safety
a haven from the wants and ills of life
be it for a moment or for a lifetime
offer it to The Ferryman
and let go

[Not that he expected the Ferryman would give up that answer.]
You also have to think - if last time was a bad memory and not everyone gave one up, maybe this time’s happy memory is meant to be more enticing? [Or even the opposite - what if it was meant to drive more people from the lantern’s protection. Not for the first time, Hanako truly wonders who exactly is in charge of this journey.]

[If the Ferryman had to take that toll and convert it into something else… then it’s possible the memory gets burned up, much like any other type of fuel.]
I’m just guessing though! I don’t really know how the rules work around here~

[Logically, a larger or more detailed memory should have more to it, right? Or maybe a more emotional one? But maybe there isn't much logic when it comes to burning memories for magic light.]

Think the Ferryman would actually answer that question? They seem to sidestep quite a bit, but this is apparent to someone’s safety, right?

[At least, most of the students back home didn’t. Hanako hadn’t interacted with enough people here to know if his assessment was true or not.]
Guess there’s no shame in asking~ [Not that he clarifies whether he would be the one to ask or if he would wait for Nagito to do so!]

I’m sure our ghostly guide has had their fill of me for the moment~! But I’ll be sure to remember it for next time.

[It’s not much of an answer, but it’s apparently the one he’s giving towards both questions.]

[Also, not the point, but still!]
