text | Header: URGENT QUESTION
I have an important question for the sake of organizing information about the group.
Feel free to message me directly if you don't feel comfortable sharing publicly.
In the world you are from, what year is it?
Edit: record of death for me should be 2186. Or 2187, though it would be very early in the year.

[Nagito's preferences trend heavily toward mystery. He's aiming for very famous names, of course.]
these are not the UT headcanon judgement calls I expected to be making
I DO RECOGNIZE SOME OF THEM.
BUT OFFHAND...
I COULDN'T TELL YOU THEIR BIRTHDAYS OR DEATHDAYS.
[He picked Shakespeare in part because this player could justify the reference, given Papyrus's joke in game, more readily than more modern authors. In a world where monsters once shared the surface with humans, magic could be used to make barriers, and Mew Mew Kissy Cutie was both anime and visual novel... Somehow, he dressed as a tropey depiction of Frankenstein for a UTDR newsletter??
Fortunately, on the game side of the fourth wall, the skeleton has already distracted himself with another realization.]
HEY, MAYBE WE'LL CROSS PATHS WITH ONE OF THEM!!
I'LL BE SURE TO ASK.

[Nagito Likes Mystery Novels.]
typo fixes that make me want to find an excuse to shove agatha christie at a sans someday, somehow
[Not that the skeleton has actually read the book in question, but he can celebrate the notion of fannish squee regardless of the specifics of the situation. It's one of the first and most necessary skills to hanging out with people who emphasize their interests over all else - not getting bogged down by the latest spoiler-filled infodump, nor trying to keep up with the details. Otherwise, one might just bring down the mood around a conversation about an anime he just doesn't share the enthusiasm for.]
I'VE HEARD WE CAN ASK THE FERRYMAN FOR THINGS,
AND EVEN SOMETIMES GET THE GOODS...
THIS IMAGINING MIGHT NOT STAY IMAGINARY FOREVER!!
I think he would appreciate that you can solve them but not actually bother to do it
[Well, there are those papers he and Sunny found, but they're very clearly anomalous.]
I can believe that!
NOT EVEN THINGS FROM THE FERRYMAN??
[But, what about his list of names and rules for name suggestions! His sticker?!]
I'm on my phone, no html rip
can't believe Nagito managed to hack the Ferryman's system for voice messages
BUT ALSO A SHAME.
HOW FLEETING OUR SCAVENGER HUNTS ULTIMATELY ARE...
[Then again, what are the winnings of such hunts but mementos, and what are mementos but memories made physical? When apparently part of the purpose of the Crossings is letting go of the lives they once lived, in favor of some future existence or nonexistence... Maybe the trinkets being left behind are a sort of practice.]

[Sometimes you just have to talk in video game terms.]

[Yes, sometimes you just have to Myst your way through things. Interacting with the various details of your environment... Attempting to eat the things you find...]
WE SHOULD TEST THIS OUT!
TAKE STOCK OF OUR KNICK-KNACKS BEFORE CROSSING...
AND SEE WHAT WE STILL HAVE AFTER!
[After all, he's pretty sure nobody can cheat by using the memory of the comfort and safety of whatever little doodads they've gathered around the desert. And a few people already clearly mentioned having been in a cavern before this.]

OR THE NEAR FUTURE, LIKE JUST BEFORE THE CROSSING.
[That way, even if they hadn't been planning on taking stock - or even of trying to take things along - they can be subtly nudged to the idea of doing so.]
