Handwritten cursive in your notebooks

As much as I am loathe to admit it, we will have to move on from what small bits of safety and comfort this place has brought us. I do believe we should discuss our plans for the coming crossing openly. Consider this a place to drop your thoughts on the idea. Might as well start planning earlier rather than later.

Unless you have a good reason to I strongly suggest that you do not take the crossing alone. There is safety in numbers.

I would like to also get a head count of who all is with us if possible. I have heard about some of us going missing and I find this rather disturbing so I find it pertinent to double check.

The floor is open.

I know. But, again, I'm the one running fast here, right?

[It was scary, but the idea of just losing himself to nothingness was almost scarier than that.]

That's what I should tell YOU.
I asked Frieda to keep an eye on the two of you. BUT. I'll be worried the entire time. I just don't know how much time I will have to actually write.

You’re always the fastest.

[Even in Sunny’s dreams, Kel was the quickest of them all. Able to speed ahead with tons of energy, bouncing around the field of battle like the basketball he threw.]

Wishing our books were… like a wall phone.

[well, Kel had a phone, but there was no way for Sunny to talk into a notebook.]

I know. This is why I stand a better chance than some other people, right?

[He didn't want others to get hurt or anything like that. And, man, wouldn't Kel enjoy listening to what his double was up to all the time?]

Yeah. Huh, I should TRy to call your book? I'm not sure if the voice function of this brick works, though.

Right… [Though, if they had been in person and not over written messages, it would have come out more as an agreeing pout.

Why did Kel have to be so fast? Why did it always seem to have to fall to him?

’Just leave it to me! I’ll have them seeing afterimages!’

A younger yet similar voice echoed in his head, and Sunny couldn’t help a small sigh.]

You can try. [Whether Kel actually attempts to ‘call’ Sunny’s notebook or not, nothing comes through on his end.]

I will be fine and we'll meet on the other side and throw a PROPER party together after next crossing, okay?

[gotta stay positive!]

It sounds like your phone line is busy when I try to call your house's number. but also I don't know if your book has one...

Was worth a try…

[How odd, for a notebook to have a busy dial system. He had to wonder if someone else was using it, or if he hadn’t unlocked voicemail privileges.

Like a level up in a video game…]

I guess so. It would also be really weird if
like
your notebook talked with my voice?

[Kel doesn't get it but...]

WELL HUH. DUH. Looks like all 'numbers' I can think about are a busy dial thing...
Tried calling home and a few other places.

[It… really would be odd if his notebook made noises other than the occasional page flutter. But then again… it also allowed him to write messages to everyone.

Sunny tried not to think about it too hard. Just like a dream.]

It might be scary. If the noise was unexpected. Maybe… it only works around here?

[Like the phones back home.] We need a quarter to call further places?

[Kel wouldn't know how to feel about a book making noises or speaking as well, but this place has been only full of surprises, right? A small grin as he scratched the back of his head.]

I'm not sure. I think I'm the only one with an electronic device, though? Maybe I need someone else with a phone.

and... I'm not sure where I could crank a quarter in, honestly. It's like a full brick with an antenna.
