text | Header: URGENT QUESTION

I have an important question for the sake of organizing information about the group.

Feel free to message me directly if you don't feel comfortable sharing publicly.

In the world you are from, what year is it?

Edit: record of death for me should be 2186. Or 2187, though it would be very early in the year.

YOU'VE FAILED TO CONSIDER THE HIDDEN WEAKNESS IN THIS QUESTION.

EVEN IF MOST OF US ARE FROM EARTHS...
THERE'S NO SAYING WE USE THE SAME CALENDARS!!

SO, THE FIRST QUESTION WE SHOULD BE ASKING,
IS WHAT YEAR DID YOUR SHAKESPEARE DIE???

[You know, everyday average trivia question.]
blindluck: (002)

[personal profile] blindluck 2025-04-09 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, a common reference point! Not a bad idea, though I don't think Shakespeare exists in every world. But for me, he died in 1616.

[Yes, exactly, everyday average trivia question anyone would know off the top of their head.]

HOW INTRIGUING... IT'S THE SAME FOR ME!
I WONDER WHAT ELSE OUR WORLDS MIGHT HAVE IN COMMON...

[Not that he knows who exactly is behind this account - 'yotsuba' is not a name he's heard mentioned.]
blindluck: (003)

[personal profile] blindluck 2025-04-10 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
We could compare authors, I suppose. Let's see... Edgar Allen Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, and Ranpo Edogawa?

[Nagito's preferences trend heavily toward mystery. He's aiming for very famous names, of course.]
spaghettimonster: (PASTEL GLASSES)

these are not the UT headcanon judgement calls I expected to be making

[personal profile] spaghettimonster 2025-04-10 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
WHAT INCREDIBLY AUTHORIAL NAMES!
I DO RECOGNIZE SOME OF THEM.
BUT OFFHAND...
I COULDN'T TELL YOU THEIR BIRTHDAYS OR DEATHDAYS.

[He picked Shakespeare in part because this player could justify the reference, given Papyrus's joke in game, more readily than more modern authors. In a world where monsters once shared the surface with humans, magic could be used to make barriers, and Mew Mew Kissy Cutie was both anime and visual novel... Somehow, he dressed as a tropey depiction of Frankenstein for a UTDR newsletter??

Fortunately, on the game side of the fourth wall, the skeleton has already distracted himself with another realization.]

HEY, MAYBE WE'LL CROSS PATHS WITH ONE OF THEM!!
I'LL BE SURE TO ASK.

[It's possible the skeleton failed to account for the massiveness of the surface of the world, the multitude of cultures and humans living there. Not that that's his first assumption, though.]

SHAKESPEARE!! A RENOWNED PLAYWRIGHT.

MAYBE WE NEED TO SEARCH FOR AN EVEN EARLIER COMMON POINT....

[If it's literature, he can keep his responses short and switch to different events. But if it's all of history...]

IT MIGHT BE BUREAUCRATIC INERTIA.
IMAGINE THE COMPLICATIONS OF TAXES WHEN PEOPLE RESTART THEIR CALENDARS.

I'M SURE THEY DON'T ALL HAVE IMMORTAL RULERS.

I'm using the most commonly used worldwide calendar, so if I remember right mine is a Christianity reference. Year 1 was when Jesus Christ was theoretically born, apparently. We call it the Common Era instead now, but it isn't as if they changed any of the actual dates when they changed the words we used.

[He could reference the era, but frankly I have no idea if the Imperial House of Japan survived the Tragedy even fewer people are likely to know that than the Gregorian calendar year.]

[she probably has heard some of those words through the visiting-other-canons feature but it's just a vague familiarity.]

You've a more globalized world than mine quite managed. Even pre-Cataclysm no one could agree on anything like that, and post-Cataclysm forget it.

DIFFERENT CALENDARS, PLAYING BY DIFFERENT RULES...
LIKE COMPARING APPLES AND ORANGES!

[Similar in some respects, but trying to substitute one for the other would create an unfortunate mess of a pie. Ask how he knows.]

AS IT IS,
I THINK SOME OF THESE CALENDRERIAL HIGH SCORES ARE INFLATED.

YES, SHAKESPEARE ISN'T IN QUESTION FOR EVERYONE.
ALAS....

BUT, MAYBE I SHOULD CHANGE THAT.
ASK THE FERRYMAN FOR A COLLECTION OF SCRIPTS...
OUR OWN TURN WITH THE THEATRICAL ARTS COULD DISTRACT AND ENRICH EVERYONE'S DEATHS!

[He was going to say, 'everyone's lives' and caught himself, but on the reread he's not sure the substitution gave the right energy. Oh well.]

A playwright?

I would not claim to be able to write them myself, but I knew a director and writer for an opera, though his were very much current. And I could hardly claim to be suited for opera, myself. Though I suppose the scripts would prove interesting.
