I'm using the most commonly used worldwide calendar, so if I remember right mine is a Christianity reference. Year 1 was when Jesus Christ was theoretically born, apparently. We call it the Common Era instead now, but it isn't as if they changed any of the actual dates when they changed the words we used.

[He could reference the era, but frankly I have no idea if the Imperial House of Japan survived the Tragedy even fewer people are likely to know that than the Gregorian calendar year.]

You've a more globalized world than mine quite managed. Even pre-Cataclysm no one could agree on anything like that, and post-Cataclysm forget it.

Are they? I know there are a few standardized calendars to keep things straight between species, but it’s easy to have arguments about the nature of tracking time when you might live a century or two and the opposing position lives for a thousand years or more.

I would not claim to be able to write them myself, but I knew a director and writer for an opera, though his were very much current. And I could hardly claim to be suited for opera, myself. Though I suppose the scripts would prove interesting.
