Post Crossing Meeting

WHEN: A bit after the crossing, when everyone has time to calm down and breathe.

[Kel has seen people scatter around and, despite still acting like a foolish fool around Mari and Sunny... he is doing his best to try to coordinate things as he can. Armed with a set bright of pink pencils, definitely merchandise of the Sweetheart brand from his place, he prepared a whole wall in one of the shelters to work as a rough chalkboard and, written on it, there are his few observations from staying behind.

- Nothing beside the wraiths did show up. What are we running from?
- Ferryman honest or not?
- When you don't pay the tool, you may still lose memories
- Our bodies can get hurt as if we're still alive.
- Discussion About Crossing from both sides?

It's not much but try to get stuff to appear properly on a blank wall when all you have is a bunch of pencils that don't even write that well. He's trying, though, he really is. A message is sent out to everyone after he's done gathering enough pillows for everyone to sit in, inviting people to come and share experiences, and... that's all. He did, at least, prepare water for everyone to drink.... it's somethin, right?

"Why, thank you for coming! Take a seat, mingle and let's get down to businesses!"

OOC: This is a mingle thread. Feel free to interact with each other and have discussions about things. The 'chalkboard' will be updated if anything is brought up to Kel's attention, I'll leave an open post for that.

Wraiths turn monstrous and bite - do injuries correlate with lost memories (1 memory lost per injury)?

[Regarding the last item on the list... for what it's worth, she'll share her personal experience.]

Having crossed under the Ferryman's protection, I can still recall that it was very hard to face my own and others' memories, but it may be worth it. I feel like I was more troubled before the Crossing.

Hey, what do you mean.. individuals? [He asks, approaching Allybee] They seemed mostly feral to me, did you see any of them that seemed to be their own person?

[The note about individuals in the wraith's population immediately caught his interest. Were the wraiths not too far gone like he feared? He looked for Allybee for confirmation.]

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by individuals among the wraiths.

Daniil scribbles this out in his usual cursive, if you didn't believe him about being a doctor, his handwriting sure LOOKS like a doctor's:

Current Hypothesis: The Wraiths are meant for some means of punishment for attempting a crossing, or perhaps, for even being here to begin with. Will continue to investigate.
Confirming memories lost if forgoing toll from personal experience. Commonality involved if some retained memories after the first crossing. Requires further investigation.
Also confirming injury possible. Healing follows typical natural patterns, but is 'sped up.' Seen months of healing happen in seconds. Speak to Daniil Dankovsky for medical attention if needed. Better to be safe rather than sorry.

He does consider writing that he still doesn't think any of them are truly dead, but he knows now that nobody believes him, so there's simply a small dot below his last line where he was about to write that.

Celehar comes across this section a bit later, and spends a few moments frowning at the first hypothesis, before noting next to it in a neat and legible hand;

Alternately, the Wraiths are those who have tried to undertake the journey and have failed, becoming lost in the darkness too soon.

Hey doc. Just one question... how do you know if you're missing a memory? [He's just whispering, there.] Like, I wouldn't know if I wasn't from the same place as Sunny and Mari, so they knew someone from.. before.

And about the wraiths... do you think that's what we risk to become, eventually? Because we are losing a bit of ourselves every step we take, from what I see.

[It's in the middle of said debates that he goes back to check on Sunny. Kel just know his friend struggles around too many people, so he just approaches, kneeling down at his side and offering a friendly hair ruffle, should he be allowed to.]

[A bit later, Frieda comes across the written conversation between Nagito and Kel, and she has to read it multiple to try and understand what in the world it means... only to still end up confused. Seeing no other recourse, she seeks him out.]

Nagito, what do you mean about "multiple instances of selves"? Are you saying there are different timelines playing out in parallel?

[Thanks to her 2,000 years of inherited memories - now, of course, left behind in the land of the living, but still retained in her mind to the extend that she can remember them -, she gleaned some insight into such theories, but few people back home ever put any stock in them. And why should they? After all, for them, there was only one life - and that's where her confusion sets in.]

If that's true, there's no way that those different timeline can influence each other. Otherwise, wouldn't we feel the effects at time?

According to the Ferryman the wraiths can't cross like we can. Their current journey is different although it once was like ours. They would not elaborate what happened to change them beyond saying a lot of things.

When asked if it involved the crossing, they answered it can. Our souls are vulnerable during the crossing. The Ferryman is here to help us keep it safe.

I believe the Ferryman knows more than they are saying so keep that in mind with this information.

Ferryman-san definitely seems reluctant to answer us about the wraiths. They were when I asked before the crossing too. They also refused my help. Maybe it's something only they can fix?
